I saw George Bush on 60 minutes last night

when asked if he saw the Saddam Hussein execution video, he said he only saw part of it, he didn't want to see the end. He didn't want to see a man killed. Why did he allow capital punishment in the state of Texas when he was Governor? Why didn't he spare the lives of any of the people on death row in Texas while he was Governor? Why, in six years as president, has he done nothing to abolish capital punishment in the United States? Can you name any other countries that have capital punishment? Iran, North Korea, China, Syria...it's a pretty scary list. I didn't watch any of the Saddam execution video because like the rest of the modern industrialized world I think state executions are barbaric. I'm hoping that some day the new government in Iraq will join us, I have less faith in the United States.

Notre Dame's Fighting Irish

The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame are under pressure to make their mascot a little more politically correct, you can see in this image the raised fists have been crudely altered so that they appear to be holding a basketball. Normally we would be given the impression that the little guy was about to take part in a drunken brawl, now he appears to be taking part in a drunken basketball game.

the "Fighting Irish" logo has been altered several times over the years but it's based on the original "Fighting Irishman" Shamus O'Drunkahan, seen in this etching, preparing to sodomise British Prime Minister Henry Addington in 1801.

But Notre Dame's Fighting Irish are not the first team to be asked to alter their logo...

in Etobicoke Ontario...

The Etobicoke Ringette Association was rocked by controversy over the mascot choice of their "bunny division" (7 and under) team, The Fighting Italians. They were forced to change their logo to a bee when the local "Legitimate Italian business man's association" complained about their original mascot "Eddy Ringetti" Fredo Antinucci of the L.I.B.A. released this statement from the tv room of the Kingston penitentiary. "We don't object 'a' to the uniform 'a' this we see as historically correct 'a' but the face is obviously based 'a' on Chico Marx, and we believe 'a' he's a Jew.

Meanwhile in Charleroi Pennsylvania...

The Charleroi area high school's girl's basketball team, The Charleroi Cougars, also known as the "Thieving Gypsies" were stunned to find themselves at the center of a controversy over their "unofficial" logo Django Gypsy. Local Gypsy community leader Enver Hoxa, of no fixed address, has demanded that the team's logo be scrapped or at the very least altered and had this to say, "We object strongly to the knife." "That's a shocking racist image." "We don't want to be seen as people who would rob you at knife point like some Mexican, a Gypsy can drift by you like a warm breeze, taking your wallet, your clothes, or even parts of your body and an hour later you still don't know what happened and I'm renting DVDs on your credit card and feeding your ears to my dog." When asked for a reaction, girl's basketball coach Stephanie "hoops" Koskoski said, "I didn't even know Gypsies were real."

And finally...

The Taffs Well football club in Wales, or as they're known "The clubbing Newfiemen" are considering modifying their logo as the result of pressure from the Newfoundland government. Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams released this statement from his office in Edmonton, "We just object to the stereotypical portrayal of a Newfondlander clubbing a seal. First of all most of us don't even live there anymore, and of those still remaining, fewer than 30 percent actually club seals for a living, the majority of newfoundlanders are fishing the cod stocks to extinction or writing comedy for the CBC"
