Michael Ignatieff

what's with the Liberal party? This guy has been in the lead in their leadership race right from the beginning but he hasn't lived in Canada for 20 years. If you are able to overlook the fact that he was out of the country for longer than some voters have been alive, you might have trouble voting for someone who completely supported the Israeli government during the recent Lebanon conflict. No? You supported Israel too? then you might not like the fact that he then turned around and called them WAR CRIMINALS! Oh, like me you don't really care if people in the middle east kill each other, (like they have been for thousands of years) then maybe it bothers you that he took one extreme position on the issue and within weeks he took an extreme position on the other side. Now he's supporting a call from Quebec Liberals to recognize Quebec as a nation. That's right Michael, no one in Canada ever gets tiered of that conversation. Why should we talk about Afghanistan, or global warming when we can waste another decade debating semantics. I've never voted Liberal and probably never will so I guess it doesn't matter to me but how stupid are Liberals that the majority of the delegates are supporting Michael Ignatieff?....I guess he makes Paul Martin look good, and that's something.

Peter MacKay

This is Peter MacKay. I mentioned him in my last entry about his ex girlfriend Belinda. MacKay was the last leader of the Progressive Conservative party. During the leadership race he recieved the support of one of the other leadership candidates with a promise that he would never merge the PC party with the Reform party (exstreme right wing party from out west) MacKay signed a written agreement, got the support of that candidate, won the leadership race, and one of his first acts as leader of the party was to merge it with the Reform party...what a dick. His thirty pieces of silver came in the form of a cabinet position as foreign affairs minister when the Reform party (now called the Conservative party) came to power.

I know he looks smart in this photo but I'm not sure he's the guy I want representing me on the world stage. His government is having a little trouble dealing with China. The fact is the Conservatives are not as progressive minded as, say...the Nixon administration in the seventies and they're having trouble ballancing their concern for human rights with their lust for a market of two billion. MacKay testified before the house of commons foreign affairs committee that, "We have concerns about their justice system, we have concerns about the way in which their democracy functions - if you can call it that," No Peter, you can't call it that. It's not a democracy, it's called the people's republic of China, they work under a system called communism.

The Chinese embasy recently had a party to celebrate their 57th birthday as the people's republic. MacKay showed up late but it was ok, the Chinese had former Liberal Prime Minister Jean Chretien to keep them entertained. The Chinese always liked Chretien. because, like them, he can't speak french or english. Anyway, when Mackay did show up he raised his glass and offered a toast to China's "75th" birthday. what a dufus.

Belinda Stronach

She's a federal politician from Ontario, first a Conservative/Alliance/Reform member but when the narrow social policies of that party became too much for her to stand, she switched to the Liberals. The split from the conservative party also meant a split from prominent Conservative MP Peter McKay. None of this hurt her politically, she won as a Liberal in the same riding that elected her as a Conservative about a year earlier. Later rumors about an affair with ex president Bill Clinton did little to harm her political career. Now reports have surfaced that she was dating a married hockey star. Her former friends in the conservative party who call her a tramp and a home wrecker, would have you believe that all this will drag her and her new party the Liberals, down even further in the poles. Well not in this province. Qubecers like her because she's pretty, but add to that any suggestion of promiscuity, and her popularity will surely rise, but now SEX AND HOCKEY!? She should be looking for a seat here in Montreal. Belinda recently opted not to run for leader of her new party, the Liberals, partly because she's not fluent in french. At the rate she's going, french or no french, her popularity in Quebec can only go up. Never mind the Liberal leadership, if she had a public affair with Angelina Jolie, she could probably get Gilles Duceppe's job.
